  1. Really what I learned form this project is exactly what Mr.T told us,"don't think about how to build it, just build something that you will enjoy building." This really affected me because I was going to build something that would have been boring, but instead I focused on one of my favorite topics and had a lot more fun with the project.

  2. I learned skills involved with building models and how to use tools to sketch and build. For example, I used the straight edge to sketch and the drill to create my pencil holder.

  3. I learned how to make a partial-cone out of cardboard, how to sketch properly, and how to use the drill to make holes for the pencils. I think the most important part of this project was actually making our pencil holders efficient and at the same time personalized.

I learned that you could make almost everything out of cardboard. Cardboard may be seem rigid and inflexible but actually if you know how to use it you can make it into almost any shape. I think that the most important part of this process was making it based on your own interests and make your project look like your project

  6. From this project I learned that how cardboard is flexible and you can make a lot of shapes out of it. Also, the drawing it really important because it let you understand the shape of the object and how you would build it. I enjoyed this project and I think I'm getting better with building things with cardboard.

After the completion of this project, I have learned that cardboard is easily malleable and can be formed into many shapes, such as cones, circles, or even spheres. In addition, I learned that with cardboard, the possibilities are endless. And though measurements might not be precise, cardboard can be used for prototyping prior to creating the real project.

While making this project, I learned that building things may not be as easy as you think. For instance, circles and cones may take some time to cut out and create, especially if you want exact measurements. Gluing cardboard to the insides of your structures can be tricky as well. I also learned that using exact measurements, while difficult, is an extremely important part of making your project. If you realize that the holes for the pencils are too small after gluing a piece of cardboard to your project, fixing the mistake can take some time and precision. I also learned that cardboard is very flexible and can be curved in many ways depending on what you want to make.

  9. Keith Jordan,
Throughout making this project i learned many things about building, how things work and about cardboard. The cardboard was really cool to learn about. I never knew that cardboard would be able to bend like that. I learned to cut half the board to make it bend that way also I learned that making most shapes with the cardboard that were thought to be easy were pretty hard. Even though it would be hard it would be possible to make so many different shapes and designs with cardboard.

  10. I learned that I not only had to think of the design, I had to actually think about how the material I will use will actually be able to move. I learned that I have to plan out every move and be ready to improvise.

During the process of creating my pencil holder, i learned many different things. One thing I learned was that it is so much easier to make your design out of card board when you draw out multiple views of the object first. Another thing I learned was how to score the cardboard, scoring is when you cut just a little more than half way through the cardboard with the X-Acto knife and then you are able to bend the cardboard and make a sharp angle, scoring is a lot better than just bending it with your hand and it looks a lot nicer also. Another thing i learned was that even though it was hard to make a cone shape and a cylindrical shape, we were still able to do it if we measure correctly and rub the cardboard on the edge of the table.

I learned many things from this project such as the fact that it is possible to use something as stiff as cardboard in a much more efficient way than I thought, going about solving a problem with a different approach can sometimes present a more useful solution, and it is important to create a prototype for sketches. I learned that cardboard is much more useful than it seems due to the fact that I had to create very precise curves with very stiff material. I thought it would be impossible to use cardboard to make the curves, but after I learned that rubbing it against a table makes it more flexible, I realized how useful cardboard is. I learned that approaching a problem with a different thought process can cause a better solution because I had many problems during this project that I didn't know how to solve. Some examples were the fact that my curves weren't staying in place while I glued, the fine lines I needed to paint on with thick brushes, and the fact that I didn't know how to curve cardboard. I didn't know what to do for any of these problems and probably wouldn't have figured out what to do if I hadn't looked at the problem in a new way. Lastly, I learned that making a prototype is important because of that fact that everything one sketches or plans to create might seem like it works and fits together in a sketch, but when it comes to building, there might be parts that are off or don't know. Making a prototype helps you to detect that problem earlier because it is the finished product but on a much smaller and more basic scale, so it acts almost as a 3-D sketch for the final project.

I learnt a lot from this project.I now that a drawing and the finished product aren't always the same. My drawings were alright, but my finished pencil holder looked really bad. The main problem I had was curving two sides, and making the curve identical to each other.I learnt how to draw in the three different perspectives, and how to cut using an x-acto knife.

I learned that cardboard can be used for a lot more than people think. Just look at these pictures and that was only to build a pencil holder. Doing another project like this would be a lot of fun. This is also a good building block to bigger and better things to come and build.

  15. I have learned from the pencil holder project how to curve cardboard, how to use a few tools, and also how I should conserve and use my time wisely.

  16. I learned some new skills with building the penicel holder and how to use tools to sketch and build. I learned how to use the exoto knife the right way.

  17. I learnt that cardboard has a lot of properties that I did not know before doing the project. I had no idea you could shape and bend cardboard so much. I also learnt how to bulid something based of a scetch. The project was both educationally proeresive and fun, and I hipe to do so,ething sililiar very soon

  18. I learned how to sculpt models out of cardboard from a sketch I made on paper of different views of my hat. Also I learned to make all my views of the hat the same scale so I could get an appropriate idea of what my model will come out like.

What I learned in this project is how you would make cardboard in to a point i needed to use this for my project because i was making p plane to hold my pencils.

During this project I learned how to draw things out and plan them and build them off of those drawings

  22. I learned how to make sketches and drawings come to life and learned that it is possible to create a 3D object from a piece of cardboard. I learned the basic idea of building. I learned that anything is possible if you try hard enough and if you use a creative imagination.

    Thanx – Maggie
